XXXIII

1.  I'm going to get better at blogging.  I promise.  No guarantees on when I'll get better at posting more faithfully, but it's out there now... somewhere in your future are regular blog posts.  Cling to that.  It will get you through those dark days.

2.  I'm also going to work on my humility; it seems a bit rusty.

3.  I have had to go back and amend my rating for the split pea soup that we made in the Crock Pot Contest on Monday; the leftovers were deliciously thick and flavourful. Apparently pea soup is like lasagna: it tastes even better the second time around.

4.  I would like to add some important new words to your vocabulary.  I'll wait a moment while you get a pencil... this lesson is brought to you by my parents, who are willing to experience many things in order to further your education:

The lesson here today is threefold:
Bear - Large animal with claws and sharp teeth, such as is preferred to be far away from the patio door of your home.
Scat - Crazy gross, and also preferred to be far away from the patio door of your home.  Sounds similar to scoot, which can be loosely translated as 'Go away, bear!'
Location, location, location - it counts, people. It really does.

5. It is dark when I go to work in the morning. In a few weeks it will be dark when I drive home.  This leads me to my question of the real purpose of Daylight Savings Time? I do not understand it.  I really prefer the dark drive in the morning; at least that way I can convince myself I woke up super early and have a long, productive day ahead of me.  Dark on the drive home makes me want to sleep at the wheel.

6. I like Shreddies.  The diamond Shreddies, not the boring square ones.

7. The Len is starting to get interviews for co-op positions for January to August of 2011! We'd love your prayers that the Lord will provide the perfect position for him to continue his learning, and hopefully make an impression on an employer who will want to hire him when he's finished school!

8. I received an email from someone mentioning that each time she opens my blog, her Internet crashes.  Is that happening with anyone else?  Let me know through email (lifeastwo@gmail.com) or in the comments!  Thank you!

  1. 1. You are amazing and awesomely hilarious. And also humble.

    2. Bear scat = ew.

    3. I agree about Daylight Savings. I prefer it to be dark when I get up. My body takes forever to adjust to a one hour change. Boo.

  2. Friend, you live so far north that soon it will be dark for your goings and your comings. If you want more daylight in the winter, you must move south. Of course, up north you get lots more daylight in the summer than those of us further south.

My husband has a funny joke about bear scat. Well, he thinks it's funny. But it would take too long to re-tell here. I'll just have him tell it to you when you come to visit (hint, hint.)

No crashing, here. I use Firefox.

  3. I was just thinking it was about time for a Schmozzle! Hey, where's the usual Schmozzle graphic?

I hate DST. Actually, I don't mind it too much, it's the switching back and forth that makes me batty. Why can't we just leave the time alone??

I don't know what Shreddies are. I guess I need to come visit so you can introduce me to all these yummy food items I've been missing out on for all of my life.

No crashing here, either. I also use Firefox.

Wow, this is a long comment. Have you ever noticed that I'm not very succinct? Not everyone has a way with words like you do. Or maybe I just like to ramble on and on... No, that can't be it. ;o)

  4. I agree with the daylight savings commentary. For sure.

    Bear scat = gross.

    What are shreddies?

    Praying for Len!

    No, my internet doesn't crash.

  5. You would have a thicker pea soup the first time around if you would follow your great grandmothers' custom of soaking the peas for 24 hrs beforehand.

    Dad

Mom says that the smell of the peas while soaking for the 24 hrs is really gross!

  6. My reassurance with bears is that they are vegetarian and don't eat people. That being said, I still wouldn't want bear scat that close to my back door!
You like Shreddies eh?! Blech! When I was in elementary school if I didn't finish them before heading to school, she would put them in the fridge and that was my after school snack. So, a soggy bowl of Shreddies has turned me off! But glad you like them ... just don't let them sit too long!
Praying for Len and for you that things work out well for a job and the rest of the schooling.
DST ... yes, challenging - but makes going to bed at a decent time easier?! We've had most wonderful glorious sunny days lately, so it's been okay to have darker mornings and evenings. But when the rains come, then I'll start not liking it.
    Have a good week Thelma!
