Ahh, long weekends! Three day weekends are amazing. Four day long weekends? Bliss!
Obviously, I've been silent most of the week; part of that was to give the Crock Pot Contest as much visibility as possible. I'm excited to give the submitted recipes a try! Part of my silence was also giving myself a week off. I was bemoaning to a friend over email how exhausted and stressed out I was, and she suggested I give myself a week or two off of everything extra-curricular. I considered her advice very wise and heeded it.
I do wonder sometimes why we need someone else to give us permission to rest. Shouldn't we in our ability to take care of others and ourselves be able to see when we need to slow down and catch our breath? Apparently not me. That's what friends and family are for, right?

Many thanks to The Len for providing the captions on today's blog! He was very excited that I introduced him to mini donuts at the fair. He has apparently never tried them before; thankfully now he agrees that they are the reason we go to the fair.
We had a wonderful time. Other family members were there as well, but we spent most of the time on our own which, in retrospect, was exactly what we needed; some time away from the house and our responsibilities there, spending some quality time together on a beautiful fall day. There may have been hand holding and smooching going on, but there's no photographic proof so that could just be a rumour.
And tomorrow, of course, is Thanksgiving which promises more time with family and lots o' food! And yet another day to sleep in.
Have a blessed Sunday!
Hooray for long weekends! And holidays! And mini donuts! And smooching (in public?? Scooter won't do that. *sniff*)
ReplyDeleteI'm genuinely glad you were able to take a break, although I must admit I was starting to show symptoms of withdrawal...
Now THAT is a beautiful weekend! Looks like you had a marvelous time!
