Good morning.
It's Monday again. I'm sitting here in a Starbucks sipping a cafe mocha and thinking of you, my bloggie friends. My laptop is perched on my lap as I sit comfortably in an overstuffed chair by the fire. The strains of Christmas music and the hiss of the milk steamer fill the air.
Lies.
I'm at home. Wearing red flannel pyjama bottoms with penguins on them and a blue tee-shirt that in no way matches the flannel or the penguins, whilst sipping something that doesn't even closely resemble a Starbucks cafe mocha. The Len is upstairs still soundly asleep in the flannel sheets. It's still dark outside.
I'm not even sure Starbucks is even open yet.
I was thinking this morning how nice it would be to have a least favourite things column... except that would likely come across as complaining and no one wants to read that. First on my list for Least Favourite Things: Monday? Mondays.
In other news, Picnik is not cooperating today.
I'm not sure what category today's favourite thing falls into, but likely it means we're back in the kitchen. I seem to have a number of favourite things in the kitchen. And that's not even including all the food...
This past summer I had a gift certificate to a home store, and one of the things I came home with was these puppies:
Silicone muffins cups. I've been wanting them for awhile since I make muffins pretty regularly. Seeing them available for $4 while I had a gift certificate was a no-brainer for me.
I love them. They are easy to use, easy to clean; they're a bit smaller than the average paper muffin cup but that's easy to adjust to. They cool quickly, so if you wanted to pull the muffins out and make six more with your remaining muffin batter, it would be no fuss. See how easy the cups peel away from the muffin?
So there you have it... some pretty, useful (and also pretty useful!) favourite things for a dark, winter morning.
And now? Three and a half more days of work before I get to join The Len on holidays!
I think I can... I think I can...

Cool. I like them. Just wondering if you almost bought gum at the same time? You had a gift certificate after all.
ReplyDelete"Lies." You crack me up, T!!

Hmmm . . . I have been tempted by these, but thought the cleaning of them would be enough to make me hate them. Do you flip them inside out and wash? Please enlighten.
ReplyDeleteI have a silicone muffin tin (though it's clearly not a tin since it's silicone), and I like that the muffins pop out so easily but it makes really small muffins. Not like mini-muffins, but rather the same diameter but shorter in height. They don't look as nice. These silicone cups might be a better solution. I do so hate washing muffin tins.
ReplyDeleteI love my grapefruit knife and my wooden spoons... here's my link:
