Pink!

Tuesday morning I came into work and discovered this on my desk:

I'm hoping the fact that I used the word 'discovered' helps you realize that I didn't buy it and put it there.  For a good part of the day, I was asking just about everyone who came to my office whether they had put it there.  Perhaps someone was making a statement about things I needed to tape.  Perhaps someone was suggesting I needed better shoes.  Or perhaps someone knows I have a thing for all things pink.

I was pretty sure my co-worker had surprised me by buying it from the Breast Cancer flyer that Staples puts out every year.  That's where I typically get the pink notebooks and desk blotter.  I find it nice to arrive to a meeting full of men with a pink notebook, instead of a black one like they all have.  However, she's not really one to surprise anyone with generosity (did I say that kindly enough?) and sure enough, it wasn't her.

So I was stumped.

Until the General Manager walked into my office later that afternoon, big grin on his face, and tapped the little shoe.

"I was shopping," he said, "and that looked like something you would like. So I got it for you."

Oh.  Alrighty then.  How's that for a pleasant surprise?

Perhaps a subtle email is in order, for the next time he's at Canadian Tire.

If a girl needs tape, she definitely needs tools.  Right?
