Me: Do you know my feet smell? (I like to share ridiculously private details with her so as to affirm how important she is to me.)
Her: And your nose runs? You’re built upside down.
Pause.
Longer. Pause.
Uncontrollable laughter on my part at both her deadpan delivery and the ridiculous amount of time it took for me to not only get that joke, but realize how priceless it is.
2. I have become a ‘talk radio’ person. My father will be so proud. I remember a trip he and I made one summer that involved long stretches of empty prairie and hours of talk radio; at the time I was eighteen and wishing someone had already invented an iPod so I could drown out the man fielding calls regarding the pros and cons of nuclear energy. Now I’m thirty one and downloading CBC podcasts to my iPod so I can listen to author interviews while I’m not driving. The irony is not lost on me.
3. Speaking of interviews, I discovered Alexander McCall Smith through talk radio. He’s the author of (among other books) The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency which, if the hilarity of his interview is any indication, will be a delightful, feel-good read. I went to the library Tuesday afternoon to check out some of his books for my upcoming trip... you know, since the four days that I am there won’t be completely jam-packed with other activities. Reading will be a high priority. Obviously.
4. There are certain moments when you should not multitask. An example: when attempting to fill your water bottle from the cooler, don’t also attempt to remove your lunch from the fridge. There is an extremely high probability that mess will ensue, and before you know it your Royal Gala apple has bounced on the ceramic floor five times and your foot is wet. You can’t make this stuff up.
5. Sacha likes roast beef. In keeping with my friend Kelly’s policy to ‘take pictures first, clean up later’, I actually have pictorial proof of Sacha’s roast-beef-loving-ways:
Just to reassure you, we didn't give her this piece of beef. She stole it off the counter. And no, we didn't let her eat the whole thing. I just let her nibble at it long enough to take some pictures.
6. The bloggie poll was a fun little experiment! General randomness and Schmozzles took the lead in the poll, with some close seconds. My ego is greatly boosted by the fact that no one voted for me to stop blogging.
Our Walk with Christ 53%Infertility 51%
Fat Girl 101 43%
Running 34%
Recipes 51%
Schmozzles 56%
NF1 24%
General randomness 65%
Other 9%
Nothing... please stop blogging. 0%
However, for the three of you who voted 'Other' without leaving a comment about what 'Other' meant to you, you're fired.
7. Was that too harsh? You're not fired. I still love you. In fact, here's a raise. 2%. Now go leave a comment and tell me what 'Other' means to you.
8. And that, my friends, is bribery. I'm not afraid to use it.

Ok. Other to me means sharing with all about how much you love your eldest sister. LOL
ReplyDeleteCheap - I know. I just love reading whatever you write so if you want to write on anything we didn't vote on, I'm good with that.
Now, why did I not inherit any of our father's writing ability. I was first in line after all.
Love you.
I laughed throughout this whole post. Why didn't I vote for schmozzles again?
ReplyDelete1. I wish I was your coworker.
ReplyDelete2. Talk radio?? How can we be twins??
3. While you're gone, I think blogging should be more of a priority than reading.
4. Gala are my absolute favourite variety of apples.
5. Maybe if I took pictures of Casper doing naughty things I would grow to love him?
6. I love Schmozzles.
7. I did not choose "other."
8. Bribery sounds an awful lot like scamming...
1 made me LOL. Out loud. I also liked 6, but I would like to hear more about running, even if not a bunch of other people would. Cause I would. And that has to count for something, right?
ReplyDeleteGreat post. Love me some schmozzling.
Sneaky kitty. I had a cat once that snuck broccoli (no lie) and popcorn. Cute picture and I'm glad some thinks my motto is a good thing. My family isn't always in agreement!
ReplyDeleteI have greatly enjoyed the No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series. I just got book 4 from the library. And that dude is a crazy-prolific author. Took me probably 5 minute to find book 4 from the correct series.
