What's better on a holiday Monday than geocaching?
A few things, actually. Geocaching with family is one. Actually finding the caches you went hunting for is another. The last time The Len and I went caching was a fail. We went hunting for six or seven; I think we found three. I was right ticked (being the gracious winner that I am) and The Len? Well, he takes most things in stride, so he went and bought ice cream.
We decided to try it again. This time we took reinforcements.
I also chose a cache we already knew the location of as our first find. Our niece and nephews hadn't found it before, but at least we'd be able to say we found something if all the others turned out too challenging for us. I'm easily satisfied, you see.
The afternoon (though threatening rain) was incredibly fun, and we were five for five! There weren't many puddles to jump over, but there were giant hills to gasp our way up and no shortage of horse dung. (Dung is a great word.)
Some hardcore searching going on here.
And here!
Aaanndd here...
Lots of micros yesterday!
And a fairly elusive cache that my sister eventually found! Can you see it?
And sometimes, a photo opp turns into a challenge...
Thankfully, there was no shortage of brave hearted lads up for a tussle.
I'm pretty sure The Len gets the point on this match.
Another great thing about caching? Lots of exercise, fresh air and some beautiful landscapes.
Also, some crazy climbs down the occasional steep incline.
My brother-in-law was super excited about this one, as you can see.
Spending time with my sis? Awesome...
And sometimes, when there are muggles about, you have to pretend like you're just hanging out.
You know, taking photos of The Len:
Fun day!
The day's finds: 5
Total finds: 43

The Len...I love it! We went geocaching this weekend too and were 4 for 4. It was really unusual. Normally we only find about half and none of those nasty little micros. They are so hard to find!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a splendid day!! I don't know a thing about geocaching. Perhaps I need to educate myself and give it a whirl?
ReplyDeleteWe haven't been geocaching in forever. It's so fun, but so frustrating if you don't find the cache!
