How we pray...

Yesterday The Len and I went to his annual visit with his neurologist, Dr. P.  In case you don't know, we love Dr. P.  We can't say often enough how grateful we are for the amazing medical team that the Lord has surrounded us with as part of His care for us.

The appointment went very well.  Dr. P. confirmed that all recent MRIs (the most recent from February) showed no significant changes.  His physical exam confirmed the same, with no change in balance, sensation or loss of dermal sensitivity.  We left happy, pleased that Len's NF1 does not appear to have progressed significantly in the past year, and even hopeful that recent improved pain levels will carry on throughout the winter.

I've blogged before about how we don't often pray for Len's NF1 to be taken away entirely.  While we believe that all things are possible with an Almighty God, we don't believe He works that way most times.  As strongly as we believe that our God is capable of reversing a genetic condition, we believe that He most likely will not.

So how do we pray?

We pray for the pain to be manageable each day.

We pray that the tumours will not change significantly or become malignant.

We pray that emotionally Len can handle everything involved with dealing with NF1 and daily pain management.

We pray for miracles: perhaps not for genetic reversal, but that his NF1 will not progress any further.  And really, for a progressive disease, that would be as much of a miracle in our books as a complete healing of Len's genetic makeup.

And mostly we pray that we will live lives worthy of the Lord... bearing fruit, growing in knowledge, being strengthened according to His glorious might and joyfully giving thanks to the Father. (Colossians 1:10-12).

If you feel led, we would covet your prayers for the same.
