Sometimes I just have to get over myself. Feel free to raise your hand if you feel the same way.
I've posted a few times about how I dislike posting twice on the same day because it messes up how neat and tidy the blog looks. (Yes, I have slight OCD tendencies.)
Throughout the duration of my course I've been taking advantage of what downtime I had to schedule blog posts to keep things active here. However, because of my hangup with the whole 'neat and tidy' deal, I would often have little snippets I wanted to post but wouldn't.
Notice how I'm posting twice today? I'll over this getting over myself thing.
Tonight I decided to go grocery shopping. (Yes, I'm actually getting over myself to blog about grocery shopping. Or, more specifically, my grocery store.) I haven't had a chance to get my kitchen back in order since we got back from camping given how busy work and my course have been. We've been squeaking by, but with my course completion yesterday, I decided to get back to having healthy food at my fingertips.
A little back story: our grocery store is being renovated. Chatting with a cashier one day, I was excited to hear that they would be adding more selection, more fresh fruits and veggies and widening the aisles. This in itself was exciting. I drive past the store each morning and it's been fun to see the work; the new signs went up this week: crisp, clean letters on a new storefront:
I was excited to get in there and see the changes. I even cut a coupon (for a free reusable shopping bag) from one the three flyers that came today.
The parking lot was surprisingly empty when we got there. That should have been a clue, but I was so distracted by the rows and rows of brand spanking new multi-tiered shopping carts that I didn't pay attention. I may have even squealed a bit when I saw the shopping carts. Maybe.
The store was closed. Closed. If I had paid any attention to the flyer that I cut my coupon out of, I would have noticed the giant letters that said it was opening Friday at 8AM. We stood staring at the industrious clerks organizing and stocking shelves, marveling at how pretty, clean and fresh everything looked.
And then we went home and had pancakes for dinner.
I wonder if I could call in sick to work to be there for the 8AM opening...
Great post! I think you could, at the very least, call in late. Say 10:30? That should be enough time to brave the lines and take your time in the fresh fruit and veggie area. :)
