This week we're talking shoes. I will refrain from composing an epic ode on the subject.
I will, however, share a lesson I learned many moons ago while wandering a shopping mall with a guy friend. He was drawn to the 'cap' store and I took the opportunity to open up on a monologue about how ridiculous it was that one guy requires so many different baseball caps.
The gentleman behind the counter looked at me and asked me how many pairs of shoes I had. After I told him he asked, "Surely that must be enough?" Of course I scoffed at the very notion (not seeing where this was going) and was rewarded with a curt, "Well, clearly for some men, baseball caps are the same as shoes for women. You can never have enough."
Since then I have learned that as men mature, baseball caps are replaced with tools. Power tools. Hand tools. Tools that don't fit in the house, the shed or the car. There can never be enough.
So shoes it is:
They're red. They're flat. They're adorable and comfy and they are an awesome pop of colour if I'm wearing nothing but black and white. They're so cute they're almost not sensible.Sensible shoes are important. I understand this. When money is tight and the choice is between an awesome pair of red heels you'll wear three times a year or a sensible pair of boots you can wear to work nearly all year, you must be sensible.
When awesome and sensible are combined, however? Shoe heaven.
And look how green that grass is!Red shoes and spring.
I'm a happy girl.

Two Thumbs Up! I like them.

Those are great shoes!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE those shoes. So jealous!
ReplyDeleteI like those red shoes! Very cute!
ReplyDeleteThe explanation about baseball caps is interesting, but I find some flaws in the theory. I mean, a baseball cap is a baseball cap. Sure, they come in various colors, and different logos, but not the variet of shoes! Sandals, flats, heels, dressy, casual - it is hardly a comparison! :)
I've posted about my favourite shoes...a bit of a twist this time :)
