My Favourite Things: Monday

Welcome to the first real edition of My Favourite Things: Monday. I've had a few camera fumbles and mishaps this week but thankfully my photos for this series turned out just fine. Plus, I didn't delete them which is a bonus in and of itself.

I decided to start in the kitchen. Truthfully, I was going to start in the bathroom, but if I say that my first favourite thing is in the Little Girl's Room you may start to wonder about me.

Kitchen it is.

This was a no-brainer, really. After I decided not to choose the fridge, my sugar & creamer set was the automatic choice. I love pottery. I love the earthy originality and artful elegance of pottery. I love how no two pieces are identical. And I love the woman named Sandra who completely understood what I was looking for when she created this. After wandering about her studio trying to explain what it was I wanted, I left worried that I hadn't conveyed it properly. What I picked up a few weeks later was proof that I had. Either that, or Sandra's a genius.

Pretty sure it's the latter.I love this set. It's beautiful without being ostentatious.
I love the texture, unique colour and the brilliance of the glaze.
The friend who introduced me to Sandra knew how pleased I was, because a year later she had Sandra make me a matching tray for serving cake or cookies on. I tried to capture the elegance of the handles here:Maybe now's as good a time as any to note that I don't have a cohesive sense of style. Maybe I don't have a sense of style at all. I think maybe that's a flaw in the 'surround yourself with things that bring you joy' mentality... it means you are surrounded by an eclectic mix of mismatched memories. Maybe I'll just start calling it the 'Joy Collection'.
