My Favourite Things: Monday

Mornin'.

Welcome to a brand-new-super-exciting-ready-to-take-over-the-world-LifeasTwo-phenomenon: a little something we've decided to call 'My Favourite Things: Monday' (or, for my American readers: favorite.)

It's new. It's snazzy. If nothing else it will have you singing songs from the Sound of Music every Monday. And who doesn't need a little music while you're out in the world climbing every mountain and fording every stream?

Ahem...

I had this plan in my head to do a 'my favourite things' post one day, and as I started thinking what I might like to convey as my favourite things, I realized it might be fun to do a series and encourage my blogger/readers (as in those who not only read my blog, but also have their own blog) to do the same. So here I am, feigning the power to influence. Let me have my moment, please.

At any rate, a few years back I decided I desperately needed to declutter, and a friend gave me a piece of advice that has kind of changed my view of 'things'.

'Keep only those things that bring you joy. The rest is just clutter'.

And so, while I may not have many things, I do have many things that bring me joy... whether for sentimental, practical or aesthetic reasons. And just because I can, I feel like sharing them with you.

Stay tuned!

  1. Two unrelated thoughts that your post for some reason brought to mind:
    1. Early one Saturday morning when I was in college, I heard someone outside (in the loading dock outside my 8th floor dorm window) singing "Oh What a Beautiful Morning". Normally I would have found that rather annoying because it was very early for a college Saturday (probably at least 7:30 am) and he was loud and it echoed. But he sounded so happy that I couldn't help but smile.

    2. There is ONE word that I always want to put a U in when I'm typing it. I can't think what it is right now... harbour? Honour? It's not those, and I can't remember. I think it starts with an R. I've always spelled things the American way, but that one word, I always want to spell the British/Canadian way. No idea why. (If I think of the word, I'll let you know.)
